“Coach” in the beginning

The now famous “Coach” began as a company known as “Manhattan Leather Bags” in 1941.  Husband and wife, Miles and Lillian Cahn began the family run company with 6 leather workers in a loft on 34th street in Manhattan.  The couple was inspired by the baseball glove.  The high grain leather and stitching of the glove’s set them on a mission to create a collection of 12 handbags.  In the 1950’s they became “Coach.”
